Powder coating

Powder coating is one of the most popular forms of painting, valued for its effectiveness in protecting and improving the appearance of elements exposed to corrosion and harmful external factors. Thanks to the use of modern technology, this process allows for the creation of durable, aesthetic and mechanically resistant coatings. Eurostal cooperates with a trusted powder coating plant, which has trained staff and the necessary equipment and adheres to the highest quality standards.

Powder coating – why is it worth using?

Powder coating is an effective technology that uses powder applied electrostatically to metal surfaces. This technique is widely used in many industries, including the automotive and engineering industries, due to its excellent protective and aesthetic properties. Unlike traditional wet painting methods, powder coating does not require the use of solvents, which makes it more environmentally friendly and guarantees an exceptionally durable coating that is resistant to corrosion, UV radiation and mechanical damage. Powder coating is recommended for materials such as steel, including acid-resistant and galvanised steel, aluminium and cast iron.

Stages of powder coating

The powder coating process is complex and structured:

  • Surface preparation – an important step in the powder coating process is proper surface preparation. In many cases, sandblasting and powder coating are offered as complementary services, but it is worth noting that they are usually preceded by a chemical cleaning stage. The components are immersed in special chemical baths that remove all dirt, such as grease or lubricants. This is followed by a rinsing stage to remove any chemical residues. The next step is sandblasting, which prepares the surface for painting.
  • Application of powder coating – a dedicated powder coating is applied to the prepared surface using special electrostatic spray guns.
  • Curing in an oven – the powder coating shop is equipped with an oven in which the painted elements are heated to a temperature of 160-200 degrees Celsius. Under these conditions, the powder undergoes polymerisation, forming a durable and smooth coating.
