The process of cutting sheet metal with guillotine shears is based on the controlled use of force, which results in a straight and clean cut edge, without distortion or burrs. This machine consists of two solid blades set at a slight angle to each other – one of them is fixed, while the other moves down during cutting. The sheet metal is placed on a special work table, and its position is stabilised by a clamping system that prevents the material from shifting during cutting.

When the machine operator starts the process, the moving blade gradually presses down on the sheet metal, creating tension. As the pressure increases, the sheet metal breaks exactly where it comes into contact with the blade. Guillotine blades should be sufficiently sharp to minimise the risk of damage to the material.
